Defense Ministry does not extend contract with Bezrukova, motion to dismiss Klymenkov submitted to Cabinet
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that the contract with Marнna Bezrukova, who headed the Defense Procurement Agency, will not be extended, and also announced the dismissal of his deputy Dmytro Klymenkov.
"Weapons purchases, which should be closed during martial law and a full-scale war with Russia, for some reason turned into Amazon, where every Internet user can see in real time who is buying what, in what quantities and from which manufacturers. And the scale of these purchases, which would be at least commensurate with the PR in the media, our defenders at the front never felt," the minister said on Facebook.
Therefore, as Umerov reported, he decided to "dismiss everyone who failed this work." Thus, the minister said that he was submitting a motion to the Cabinet of Ministers to dismiss his deputy, Klymenkov. He also said that the contract with Bezrukova was not being extended by the Defense Ministry.
The Defense Ministry is also recalling two state representatives from the Supervisory Board.
"This will become a precedent in the history of state corporate governance, when two independent representatives of the Supervisory Board supported the position of the government, and the authorized state representative of the interests of the state ignored the recommendations of the governing body. The restart of the Supervisory Board will take place in the near future," the minister said.
Umerov said Arsen Zhumadilov will be appointed director of Defense Procurement Agency. According to the head of the department, "this year Defense Procurement Agency and State Rear Logistics Operator had the same conditions. One agency did the job, the other only created media noise."
"There is a lot of talk about purchasing weapons for the army, the result is unsatisfactory. We are changing the system so that the result is on the front, and not in the news," Umerov said.
