Poroshenko ready to post bail for General Halushkin
Ukrainian MP and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko has announced his readiness to post bail for Brigadier General, former commander of the Kharkiv Operational and Tactical Group Yuriy Halushkin, who detained on January 21 with the right to post bail in the amount of UAH 5 million.
"The other day I have been receiving numerous requests from the military asking for help for the general. Therefore, I propose posting bail for Yuriy Halushkin. Just as we pulled generals Marchenko and Pavlovsky out of the pre-trial detention center," he said on Facebook Wednesday.
The MP emphasized that "combat officers in handcuffs is something that definitely demotivates frontline commanders."
"Brigadier General Halushkin's lawyers can contact our team regarding the necessary information and procedures. Once again, I call on the authorities to stop attacks on internal unity and focus on strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The path to victory is difficult, and we need to unite, not assign blame," Poroshenko said.
As reported, Kyiv's Pechersky District Court on January 21 selected a preventive measure for Halushkin, who is suspected of negligence due to which the enemy was able to seize part of the territory of Kharkiv region in May 2024, in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of UAH 5 million, partially satisfying the prosecutor's office's motion.
On January 20, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) reported the detention of two generals and a colonel, allegedly due to whose negligence the enemy was able to seize part of Kharkiv region in 2024. Later, information appeared that, in addition to Halushkin, the former commander of the 155th Anne de Kyiv Brigade, Dmytro Riumshyn, and the former commander of the 125th Lviv Territorial Defense Brigade, former deputy commander of the 125th Brigade, Artur Horbenko, were detained.
