Ukrainian, Swedish Red Cross to implement rehabilitation project for war-affected population in three regions
A rehabilitation and recovery project for the population affected by the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine will be implemented in Kherson, Odesa and Sumy regions.
According to the agreement signed by the Ukrainian and Swedish Red Cross "Ukraine: Resilience, Recovery and Rehabilitation" with the support of SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), the amount of assistance exceeds UAH 68 million, the Ukrainian Red Cross said on Facebook Friday.
Under the terms of the agreement, the main areas of work include initiating the construction of a temporary social housing center and the implementation of a mental health and psychosocial support program in Sumy, implementing measures to expand regular access to technical water and increase the resilience of conflict-affected communities in Kherson and Odesa regions.
The Ukrainian Red Cross also said that a SIDA delegation visited Ukraine and held meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross, attended by First Secretary of the Swedish Embassy in Kyiv Erik Petersson. The parties discussed the implementation of the treaty "Ukraine: Resilience, Recovery and Rehabilitation" and support for the project to rebuild the children's building of the State Institution "Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Health Ministry of Ukraine" in Kyiv, which was damaged by a Russian missile attack last summer.
The contract "Ukraine: Resilience, Recovery and Rehabilitation" was signed by the Ukrainian and Swedish Red Cross with support from SIDA in December 2024.
