NABU director asks to bring to disciplinary liability judge of Kyiv's Pechersk District Court

The Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) of Ukraine filed a complaint with the High Council of Justice (HCJ) asking to bring to disciplinary liability a judge of Kyiv's Pechersk District Court, NABU said.

"During the investigation into possible abuses by officials of the judicial system and law enforcement agencies, it was established that at the end of 2023, this judge made a number of decisions for which there are objective doubts about their compliance with the law," NABU said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Thursday.

According to the Bureau, these are cases on the return of money seized during the investigation.

"In the first case, the judge made a decision, thanks to which the money seized during the search was received not by the owner, but by an outsider who had nothing to do with these funds. In the second case, the situation was similar: the seized money was returned to the other party, who had no right to these funds," the NABU said.

In total, as the bureau states, this about amounts of more than UAH 4.1 million and more than UAH 15 million.

NABU also said the judge has already made "similar questionable decisions that became the subject of preliminary complaints to the High Council of Justice."

The NABU report does not indicate the name of the judge. As a source in the anti-corruption agencies told the agency, this is about judge Tetiana Illieva.
