Zelenskyy assesses statements of Slovak politicians about Russia as dangerous game, recalls assassination attempt on Fico

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declares that discussions on normalizing relations with the Russian Federation are unacceptable, commenting on the statements of Slovak politicians, and stressed the need to condemn aggression.

"The leadership of Slovakia is playing very dangerous games. It is playing this game until the war comes to its home, and that's it. It does not understand this. I believe that evil must be punished," Zelenskyy said in an interview with Polish media on Thursday.

According to him, he had a conversation on this topic with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and cited the assassination attempt on him as an example of the inadmissibility of indulging in aggression.

We were sitting, and he told me again: here we still need to understand where evil is, where it is not evil, and so on. I told him that murderers cannot be forgiven. And I believe that this should be a common position. And I told him that you were shot. Why didn't you forgive? Why did you arrest this person who shot at you, who wounded you? And I reminded him of this and said: we all, despite your position, we all condemned such steps, because they shot directly at a living person," the Ukrainian president said.

"It is a sin to shoot, kill, cut, rob, and so on. And that is why Putin, he is the same, he shoots at living people. Yes, with the hands of others," Zelenskyy added.

He believes that "in Slovakia, this is a political game." "And when he (Fico) plays like this, he begins to change public opinion in his country. He begins to change it, thanks to information platforms. If you speak every day, and you have people who listen to you, and you tell them every day, I spoke with Putin today, I met with Putin, he was provoked, he did not want war - this is very dangerous," the head of the Ukrainian state added.

At the same time, he noted that this does not apply to all people, and in Slovakia, residents have "different opinions." "I believe that the biggest challenge is that politicians do not fully understand what war is," Zelenskyy noted.
