Ukraine to expand cooperation with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed issues of expanding cooperation with the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg, in particular, the possibility of integrating domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS system, as well as organizing the production of anti-drone systems in Ukraine.
"I had a productive meeting with Eirik Lie, CEO of the leading Norwegian corporation Kongsberg Gruppen ASA and President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace," he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
Umerov noted that Kongsberg already provides significant support to Ukraine. "It is Kongsberg, together with American Raytheon, that is participating in the supply of NASAMS air defense systems, which reliably protect our cities from air attacks. We discussed the possibility of integrating domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS system, which will increase its effectiveness," he said. "Another important topic is counter-drone systems and the possibility of localizing their production in Ukraine. We also discussed the development of maritime capabilities," the minister added.
Umerov expressed gratitude to Kongsberg for its support and willingness to develop cooperation.
