Shmyhal, Estonian FM discuss strengthening cyber support for Ukraine
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Kyiv.
"We discussed countering the enemy in the field of cyber defense and coordinated work within the framework of the IT coalition and the Tallinn Mechanism to strengthen cyber support for Ukraine. We expect further exchange of experience within the framework of the NATO Center of Excellence in the field of joint cyber defense," Shmyhal said in the Telegram channel following the meeting.
The parties also touched upon the issue of sanctions. As Shmyhal pointed out, the new EU restrictive package should contain sanctions against the Russian "shadow fleet," the nuclear and metallurgical industries.
In addition, the issue of military support was discussed. Shmyhal voiced Ukraine's urgent defense needs, including air defense systems. The parties discussed the topic of purchasing weapons for Ukraine and joint production of weapons.
The Prime Minister thanked Estonia for adopting a law allowing the use of frozen Russian assets to compensate Ukraine for the damage caused by the war.
"We must make efforts to ensure that all frozen assets of the aggressor are confiscated and used to restore Ukraine. In this context, we appreciate Estonia's participation in the restoration of Zhytomyr region. We count on new joint projects and the participation of Estonian companies in the restoration of Ukraine. We are grateful to Estonia for all the assistance provided," Shmyhal said.
