Poland raises fighter jets due to Russian missile attack on Ukraine
Poland took military aircraft into the sky on Wednesday morning as a result of a massive Russian missile attack on the territory of Ukraine, the Polish Ministry of Defense reported.
"Attention, in connection with the attack by the Russian Federation on facilities located, including in western Ukraine, military aircraft have begun operating in our airspace," the message posted on X reads.
The Polish Operational Command has activated all the forces and means at its disposal, has lifted into the air another pair of fighters, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on high alert.
The military assured that they had taken measures aimed at securing the territories bordering the threatened areas.
"The operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain fully prepared for an immediate response," the ministry concluded.
