Defense forces down 46 of 70 enemy drones overnight
The Ukrainian defenders shot down 46 Shahed kamikaze drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) last night, the Ukrainian Air Force reported Thursday morning.
"As of 9 a.m., the destruction of 46 Shahed kamikaze drones and other types of UAVs was confirmed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv region," it said on the Telegram channel.
In addition, the locations of 24 enemy simulator drones were lost without negative consequences.
According to the message, on the night of January 9, 2025 (from 7:30 p.m. on January 8), the enemy forces launched 70 Shahed kamikaze drones and other types of simulator drones from Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.
The air attack on Ukraine was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian air and defense forces.
Private houses were damaged in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions as a result of downed drones landing on them.
