Shmyhal: this year goal is to develop, approve mechanism for complete confiscation of Russia’s frozen assets in favor of Ukraine
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal expects to develop and approve in 2025 a mechanism for the complete confiscation of Russian frozen assets in favor of Ukraine.
"Our goal this year is to develop and approve a mechanism for the complete confiscation of Russian frozen assets in favor of Ukraine. These funds should become the basis for financing the restoration and sustainability of Ukraine," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.
The premier noted that the government has a clear understanding of how to pass 2025 in terms of finances and ensure all priority expenses: pension, wages and social support.
"We expect funds from the EU this year as part of the Ukraine Facility, as well as the IMF as part of our joint program. In addition, the G7 and EU countries will allocate $50 billion to Ukraine, which will be secured by Russian frozen assets," he added.
