Vodafone Ukraine gets 600 generators, 22,000 batteries for base stations

PJSC VF Ukraine (Vodafone Ukraine), the second largest mobile operator in the country, announced the purchase of an additional 600 generators and 22,000 lithium-iron-phosphate batteries for base stations.

"Our team has purchased an additional 600 generators for the base stations. This will allow for a 1.3-fold increase in backup power for base stations. We have also purchased 22,000 new lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, which are already being delivered to the regions for installation at base stations," the company said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

Vodafone Ukraine emphasized that lithium batteries are much better adapted to critical operating conditions and will more than double the capacity of the backup power supply.

"This is our New Year's gift to the country! Despite all the challenges of wartime, from logistics to personnel issues, we continue to modernize the network and do everything possible to keep Ukrainians in touch with their families and friends in 2025," Vodafone Ukraine said.

In the middle of 2024, the company announced the acquisition of 13,500 rechargeable batteries of a new lithium and ferrum type (LiFePO4).

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Vodafone Ukraine has acquired about 500 mobile generators, and 700 partner generators have also provided network operation during outages. More than 1,500 base stations of the company were provided with power supply using generator sets, including its own stationary and mobile generators, as well as generator sets of partners and customers.
