EIB provides EUR 55 mln to Ukraine for restoration of social infrastructure in regions
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided EUR 55 million to Ukraine for implementing 151 sub-projects focusing on the restoration of schools, kindergartens, hospitals, social housing, as well as heating and water supply systems in several regions.
"Together with our EU partners, the European Investment Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to Ukraine's recovery and rebuilding. This EUR 55 million disbursement under the Ukraine Recovery Programme will help communities restore critical infrastructure, renewing schools, hospitals, heating, housing, water and waste facilities, and other essential services for all," the press release quotes EIB Vice-President responsible for the bank's operations in Ukraine Teresa Czerwińska.
According to the report, the financing will be EU guarantee-backed funds. The funds will be directed to recovery programs across Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.
The current financing is allocated as part of the EIB framework loan supported by an EU technical assistance grant and aiming to help communities rebuild vital social infrastructure.
Under the Ukraine Recovery Programme, in 2024, projects were completed to build a water treatment plant in Bucha, two schools in the Vinnytsia region, a children's infectious diseases department of a hospital in Zhytomyr region, as well as a sewage collector in Zhmerynka, Vinnytsia region, completed on December 25.
