PrivatBank uses alternative sources of information until state registers restored
State-owned PrivatBank (Kyiv) will use alternative sources of information to ensure the stable operation of the financial institution until the state registers are restored after the Russian cyberattack.
"For the stable operation of the bank's services and products, specialists are working with alternative sources of information until the registers are fully restored," said Privat's board member for corporate business and SMEs Yevhen Zaihrayev in response to a request from Interfax-Ukraine.
The banker did not specify which alternative sources of information Privat uses. He added that the financial institution provides all important services to clients in the normal mode.
"According to my information, the enemy's hacker attack on the Ministry of Justice registers did not lead to any visible consequences for the functioning of the country's financial system. Monobank is operating as usual," Oleh Gorokhovsky, co-owner of monobank, commented on the consequences of the cyberattack.
At the same time, the agency's source in the banking market reported difficulties in opening accounts for businesses due to the impossibility of conducting full identification due to the lack of the ability to verify the data declared by the client in the register of legal entities.
According to him, the situation with individuals is better, however, the financial institution does not have the ability to check the presence of a person in the register of debtors, which also prevents him from opening an account in the bank.
The National Bank of Ukraine has not yet officially commented on the situation, but there is information that it is preparing a letter of recommendation to banks.
As reported, on December 19, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine announced a large-scale failure at the level of the network infrastructure servicing state registries.
