Lithuania ready to expand cooperation with Ukraine on military training – PM
Lithuania is ready to expand cooperation with Ukraine in the field of training and education of the Ukrainian military, Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has said Friday.
"Lithuania and Ukraine have a wide field of cooperation. One of such areas is defense. Here we are talking about preparing and training the military to participate in combat operations. If we answer your question, Lithuania is ready to expand our cooperation in this area as well," he told a joint press briefing with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Kyiv following a meeting of the governments of Ukraine and Lithuania, answering a question from the Interfax-Ukraine agency whether Lithuania is ready to send instructors to Ukraine to train Ukrainian military if necessary.
As reported, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on December 13 that Ukrainian instructors for basic general military training will be trained in Lithuania in 2025 under the NATO Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP).
