Roman Catholic Church in Kyiv damaged by Russian missiles

On Friday morning, as a result of a Russian missile strike on Kyiv, the Church of St. Nicholas was damaged, the Roman Catholic parish of the church has said.

"The glass in the towers around the church was blown out, some stained glass windows fell down ... The glass in the towers that are so waiting for the crosses to be returned was blown out. Unfortunately, the buildings near the church were damaged even more. One person has already been killed, and about a dozen were wounded," the parish said in a Facebook post.

"As we can see, nothing stops the enemy! He mercilessly strikes civilian buildings, peaceful people, churches ... But we will rebuild the walls, the church will return to its rightful owner, its parish. We believe in justice! We believe that the Lord will win! Ukraine needs Victory! We need Peace!" the post says.

"Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was restored and opened with pomp and ceremony by the powers that be, but will the world community remember the Church of St. Nicholas in Kyiv? I am sad to see how our church is being mercilessly destroyed. Today it is suffering from Russian missiles. The enemy is destroying what is sacred to us, Ukrainians. But I do not lose hope that the parish will be returned and the church restored in Kyiv. We continue our fight with the believers," said Father Pavlo Vyshkovsky, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas.
