Verkhovna Rada expels MP Boiko from Human Rights Committee

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has expelled MP Yuriy Boiko (the Platform for Life and Peace deputy group) from the Committee on Human Rights, a member of the Holos faction, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, said on Thursday.

"At the second try, the Verkhovna Rada recalled Yuriy Boiko as a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, De-Occupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations," he said on the Telegram channel.

The resolution to expel Boiko from the committee was backed by 258 MPs at a Thursday plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.

As reported, earlier Boiko spoke in TikTok about the growing support for his political force by people who allegedly suffer from some "radicals" in Ukraine, as well as the alleged prohibition to speak their native language.

Boiko was co-chairman of the Opposition Platform For Life party, which was banned in 2022.
