Zelenskyy, Macron discuss strengthening of Ukraine's positions on battlefield, in diplomacy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of France Emmanuel Macron in Brussels on Tuesday, December 18. It was their eighth meeting this year.
"The main topics discussed during the meeting were military assistance and the needs of Ukrainian warriors. The President of Ukraine provided a list of what is needed by the defenders on the battlefield, as well as for enhancing air defense and long-range capabilities," the press service of the Ukrainian President's Office said.
Zelenskyy thanked France for all the defense assistance it has provided, which amounts to more than EUR 5 billion, for its participation in most of the Ramstein coalitions, and for training the Anne of Kyiv Brigade.
"I expressed gratitude for France's preparation of one brigade for our army, and we agreed to continue this cooperation and prepare one more brigade. We hope other partners will join this effort by contributing to equipping additional Ukrainian brigades," he said on the X social network following the meeting.
The head of state also emphasized that Ukraine and France "share a common vision: reliable guarantees are essential for a peace that can truly be achieved."
"We continued working on President Macron's initiative regarding the presence of forces in Ukraine that could contribute to stabilizing the path to peace," he said.
Macron informed Zelenskyy about "his communication with other partners aimed at ensuring all necessary steps are taken for peace."
