Danish PM: Future support for Ukraine on agenda in Brussels today

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will represent the Nordic and Baltic countries today in Brussels at a meeting between "a small group of European, EU and NATO leaders" and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Danish Prime Minister's press service said.

"We all want peace in Ukraine. But it has to be a sustainable, just peace. It cannot be on Putin's terms. We must give Ukraine the best possible conditions to defend itself against Russia. This requires more active and faster support from European countries. Putin does not seek peace. He must be stopped by force and European unity," Frederiksen was quoted as saying in a press release.

As reported, a meeting of EU leaders with President Zelenskyy will take place at the residence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels on Wednesday. Earlier, the media announced that the meeting would be attended, apart from Rutte, by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Polish President Andrzej Duda, European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
