France has no problems in supporting idea of inviting Ukraine to NATO – Ambassador
France is open to the idea of inviting Ukraine to NATO, Ambassador of the French Republic to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière said.
“France has no problem supporting the idea of inviting Ukraine to NATO. We talked about this publicly, even before the Washington summit. And this remains our position,” Veyssière said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, he stressed that any decision regarding NATO should be made by all member countries.
The ambassador also pointed out that it is important to think about what security guarantees Ukraine needs “within the framework of NATO, but perhaps also outside the framework of NATO, and how this can work.”
“So that we are ready for any situation and can help Ukraine as much as possible,” he said.
