There is an understanding regarding a number of air defense systems and missiles for them requested by Ukraine to organize their transfer, if possible, active work is underway, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry (MFA) Spokesman Heorhiy Tykhy said.

"Some 20 air defense systems. We are talking about Hawk, Iris-T, NASAMS, medium-range, necessary to cover a specific list of critical energy facilities that Russia is currently trying to hit. Indeed, there is an understanding regarding a number of these systems and missiles, where it is possible to organize their transfer to Ukraine. Active work is underway," Tykhy said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha discussed the issue of transferring additional Patriot systems capable of shooting down ballistics.

"There is an understanding where there are additional systems, work is underway to involve them. I will not give more information. I will only say that this was a very specific discussion," Tykhy said.

Speaking about the possibility of transferring other systems to Ukraine, in particular the American THAAD complex, the speaker said "there are no taboo topics in our communication with partners on the types of weapons, systems that can be transferred to Ukraine."

"Discussions are ongoing," he said.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Sybiha said Ukraine needs at least 20 additional air defense systems such as Hawk, NASAMS or IRIS-T to protect critical infrastructure facilities from Russian missile attacks.
