Georgian opposition hoping protests can evolve into general strike
Opposition parties have decided to continue daily protests against the policy of the Georgian authorities, which may evolve into civil disobedience and a general strike, opposition co-leader Giorgi Vashadze said.
"Our task is to start general disobedience and a general strike in the country," Vashadze told the press.
Representatives of all opposition parties made the decision on Wednesday, he said.
It is crucial at the current stage to start the protests nationwide, Vashadze said.
Protests in Georgia stem from the Georgian Dream ruling party's decision to postpone the EU accession talks until 2028. They have been on in Tbilisi and other Georgian cities since the end of November.
