U.S. suspending strategic partnership with Georgia - Dept of State
The United States has suspended strategic partnership with Georgia due to the latter's decision to suspend the EU accession process and the use of force against protesters, U.S. Department of State spokesman Matthew Miller said on Saturday.
"Georgian Dream's decision to suspend EU accession is a betrayal of the Georgian constitution. We condemn excessive force used against Georgians exercising their freedom to protest and have suspended our strategic partnership with Georgia," Miller said on a social network.
The decision of the Georgian Dream ruling party to suspend the EU accession talks for four years has caused protests in Georgia.
