Umerov discusses with Japanese counterpart common threats, particularly from North Korea
Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov has met with newly appointed Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani in Brussels on Thursday to discuss common threats, particularly from North Korea, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation in the field of demining.
"I congratulated the new Minister of Defense of Japan, Gen Nakatani, on his appointment. I expressed gratitude for Japan's efforts in treating and rehabilitating our soldiers. We discussed the current situation on the frontlines as well as shared threats, particularly from North Korea. We also investigated opportunities to enhance cooperation in the field of demining. I invited Mr. Nakatani to visit Ukraine in the near future," he said.
