Zelenskyy arrives at Vatican to meet with Pope Francis
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the Vatican, where he is expected to have an audience with Pope Francis this morning, the Italian news agency ANSA reports.
"This is Zelenskyy's third visit to the Vatican after the Pope's hearings on February 8, 2020 and May 13, 2023. Francis and the Ukrainian President also met at a bilateral meeting on June 14 on the occasion of the G7 summit in Borgo Egnazia, in Apulia," the agency said on Friday.
It is noted that before meeting with Zelenskyy in the morning, the Pope hosted Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) also broadcast Zelenskyy's arrival in the Vatican.
This is Zelenskyy's second private audience at the Vatican after meeting with Pope Francis in May 2023; they also met at the G7 summit in southern Italy in June this year, AFP reports.
