Almost two hundred Ukrainian citizens from all over Europe apply to Ukrainian Legion – Consul in Lublin
In Lublin (Poland), a large recruitment of volunteers for the Ukrainian Legion is underway, which can accept all citizens of Ukraine. At the moment, almost two hundred people from all over Europe have applied, said Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin Oleh Kuts in an interview with the information portal i.pl.
"We see great interest in this initiative among our citizens. The exact figures can be found here at the Ministry of National Defence, but I can say that as of Friday, October 4, 196 people from all over Europe have applied," he said.
According to the consul, anyone who wishes or hesitates can contact the recruitment center without any obligations, since this is a voluntary unit.
"You can come, see what it looks like, learn about the terms and amount of the contract, rights and obligations, and discuss your doubts with the staff. The legion provides financial compensation, and you can safely cross the border to return for vacations and rotations. Moreover, people aged 18 and older can register at the point, not 25 - after all, this is the mobilization age in Ukraine," Kuts explained.
Volunteers can sign a contract and undergo a medical examination to check whether they are healthy enough to do the job.
"Then the entire unit, to which the person is sent, undergoes military training organized by the Polish Ministry of National Defense. After which he is equipped and sent to the front for the duration of the contract. Then he returns again," the consul detailed.
He also stressed that the current rules do not allow recruiting anyone other than Ukrainian citizens. As for citizens of other countries, in particular Poland, they "can help as volunteers - whether as suppliers of goods and medical care at the front or as educators of families with children here." The consul stressed that "this really means a lot."
