Lubinets to appeal to ICRC, UN on execution of Ukrainian POWs by Russian occupiers
Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets will appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN regarding the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POW) by the Russian occupants.
"Recently, videos of probable shootings and killings by the Russian army of Ukrainian military who surrendered as prisoners of war have been appearing in social media. Today, another video appeared on the Internet, where the occupiers are probably shooting unarmed Ukrainian military in Donetsk region," he said on the Telegram channel on Sunday, October 6.
The ombudsman said he demanded that the international community record such violations of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War and international humanitarian law.
"That is why I am sending letters to the UN and ICRC on all probable cases. Now the next letter on the case is urgently coming from me to them in New York," he said.
