Poroshenko works to shore up European support for Ukraine during Brussels visit

Petro Poroshenko who is on a visit to Brussels has met with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis. The leader of European Solidarity thanked Dombrovskis for his continued support of Ukraine in strengthening macroeconomic stability and gradual integration into the European Union. Ukraine’s former president also stressed the importance of maintaining the Ukrainian issue on the agenda of the new composition of the European Commission.

 

"We discussed the procedure and conditions for the allocation of further macro-financial assistance packages to Ukraine by the European Union, including at the expense of frozen Russian assets. I emphasized the need to increase EU budget allocations for the financing of defense needs of both Ukraine and the European Union, as well as the importance of enhanced business insurance in the context of the ongoing war. We discussed in detail the progress of reforms in Ukraine, in particular in the area of ​​public finance and government procurement," Poroshenko said on his social media pages.

During a meeting with one of the heavyweights of European politics, the President of the European People's Party Manfred Weber, Poroshenko discussed the priorities of the work of the new compositions of the European Parliament and the European Commission with an emphasis on increasing assistance to Ukraine.

"This also concerns the high dynamics of the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the EU," the leader of European Solidary said.
