Death toll in attack on Kherson market rises to seven – prosecutor's office
Seven people were killed as a result of an enemy attack on the market in the center of Kherson, the regional prosecutor's office has said, adding that an investigation has been launched.
"According to the investigation, on October 1, 2024, at around 9 a.m., Russian troops attacked the center of Kherson reportedly with cannon artillery. The shelling occurred near the local market and a public transport stop," it said in a message on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Currently, it is known that three women and four men were killed as a result of the shelling. Three citizens were wounded, they are receiving qualified medical care. The data is yet to be updated.
Head of Kherson City Military Administration Roman Mrochko said that four injured people were hospitalized.
"These are women, 68, 65, 33, and a man, 65. They all sustained blast traumas and shrapnel wounds. They were on the street at the moment of the attack," he said on the Telegram channel.
According to the official, the bodies of two victims were delivered to the forensics bureau.
