USA takes steps to disrupt global cryptocurrency network to combat sanctions evasion, money laundering – Biden
The United States, in coordination with international partners, has taken a number of actions to disrupt the global cryptocurrency network to combat Russian sanctions evasion and money laundering, U.S. President Joe Biden said.
"To counter Russian sanctions evasion and money laundering, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Secret Service have taken action today to disrupt a global cryptocurrency network, in coordination with international partners," he said, presenting U.S. support for Ukraine on Thursday.
Biden stressed that the United States will continue to raise the cost to Russia for its war in Ukraine and deprive Russia's defense industrial base of resources.
