Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov fired two deputy heads of the Main Intelligence Agency of Kyrylo Budanov, Viktor Zaitsev and Ihor Ostapenko, a source in the Defense Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the source, the defense minister intends to conduct major personnel shake-up. In particular, Umerov plans to fire about 20 generals and officials due to the "Soviet approach" and "inefficiency."
In particular, five deputy ministers and the chief of staff of the Unmanned Systems Forces Command Roman Hladky, in relation to whom Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky decided to conduct an additional investigation by the State Security Service of Ukraine, may be fired.
