AFU say they stopped counteroffensive of Russian army in Kursk region
Russia's counteroffensive to retake the territory controlled by Ukrainian troops in Kursk region has been stopped, said Oleksiy Dmytrashkovsky, a representative of the Commandant's Office of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a comment to the AFP news agency.
“They tried to attack from the flanks, but they were stopped there,” Dmytrashkovsky said.
According to him, “the situation has stabilized, and today everything is under control.” Dmytrashkivsky also said that there are “several thousand” Russian civilians in the territories controlled by Ukrainian troops.
"In some settlements there are more than 100 people, more than 200, more than 500," he said.
The Ukrainian military official admitted "some minor success" by Moscow.
"The Russians entered one of the settlements. They started fighting for another settlement, but that was it," he said.
