Verkhovna Rada appoints Kalmykova as Minister of Veterans Affairs
The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Natalia Kalmykova as Minister for Veterans Affairs, MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (Holos faction) said on the Telegram channel.
The appointment was supported by 256 MPs at the plenary session on Thursday.
As reported, from September 27, 2023, Kalmykova held the office of Deputy Defense Minister for Social Development, and before that, from February 2022 to September 2023, she was the Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. Previously, from June to December 2021, she served as Gender Advisor to the Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From 2018 to 2021, she was the manager of the Come Back Alive Foundation. Before that, Kalmykova worked in the private sector.
On February 7, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Yulia Laputina as Minister of Veterans Affairs, and on February 9, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed First Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs Oleksandr Porhun as Acting Minister.
