Modi plans to discuss with Zelenskyy ‘peaceful settlement of conflict in Ukraine’
During his visit to Kyiv, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi intends to discuss with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the possibility of a peaceful end to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"I look forward to continuing previous conversations with Zelenskyy about strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing views on a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine," Modi said in a statement released Wednesday by his office.
The Indian Prime Minister added that he hopes for the "speedy restoration of peace and stability in the region."
Modi is to visit Ukraine on August 23 at the invitation of Zelenskyy.
Earlier, the Indian Foreign Ministry stressed that this is "a historic visit, as the Indian prime minister will visit Ukraine for the first time in more than 30 years of diplomatic relations."
