Ukrainian military form buffer zone in Kursk region for self-defense purposes – ombudsman
Ukraine adheres to all international conventions in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, therefore, the Ukrainian military formed a buffer zone on the territory of Kursk region for self-defense, said Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada.
"I joined the meeting of President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at which issues of stabilization measures in Kursk region were discussed. In exercising its right to self-defense, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, Ukraine has the right not only to defend itself, but also must adhere to all international conventions and requirements of international humanitarian law," Lubinets wrote on the Telegram channel on Wednesday.
"Therefore, our military, in self-defense, formed a ‘buffer (sanitary) zone’ on the territory of Kursk region," he added.
