Second Ukrainian corvette Hetman Ivan Vygovsky launched in Turkey – Olena Zelenska
First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska in Turkey took part in the launching of the second anti-submarine corvette Hetman Ivan Vygovsky for the Ukrainian Navy, laid down in 2023.
"As two years ago, when the Hetman Ivan Mazepa was launched, I have the honor to take part in the ceremony at the invitation of the leadership of the Ukrainian Navy. A powerful vessel will guarantee the security of the entire region, the common sea of our countries. Because Ukraine protects not only itself, but also the principle of peaceful coexistence for all," Zelenska wrote on Telegram on Thursday.
According to the Navy, the first lady broke a bottle of champagne on the hull of the ship, giving, according to tradition, the name of the corvette.
As previously reported, the Ada-type multipurpose corvette Hetman Ivan Vygovsky is the second ship in the series, which is being built for the Ukrainian Navy in Turkey at Istanbul Shipyard Naval, the first ship of the Hetman Ivan Mazepa series is currently undergoing sea trials.
