Russia plans to increase number of its soldiers in Ukraine to 690,000 by late 2024 – Syrsky
By the end of 2024, the enemy intends to increase the number of its soldiers fighting against Ukraine to 690,000 people, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky said.
In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, the Colonel General emphasized that the Russians are much better provided with resources: they have more tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and soldiers. Their initial 100,000-strong invasion force has grown to 520,000, with plans to increase to 690,000 by the end of 2024, he said.
"When it comes to equipment, there is a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 in their favour," he said.
Since 2022 the number of Russian tanks has "doubled" – from 1,700 to 3,500. Artillery systems have tripled, and armoured personnel carriers gone up from 4,500 to 8,900.
"The enemy has a significant advantage in force and resources," Syrsky said.
"Therefore, for us, the issue of supply, the issue of quality, is really at the forefront," he added.
