Shmyhal discusses with Vatican Secretary of State establishment of peace, return of POWs
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Kyiv with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who arrived in Ukraine on a visit.
"We discussed the establishment of a just peace for Ukraine, food security, the return of prisoners of war and Ukrainian children. And in this context, I thanked the Holy See for participating in the First Peace Summit and supporting its decisions," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram on Monday.
He thanked the Vatican for its assistance in treating Ukrainian children who were victims of the war, and stated that Ukraine counts on the participation and assistance of the Holy See in restoring the medical infrastructure in Ukraine.
According to Shmyhal, Parolin's visit to Ukraine and visits to Ukrainian cities during the war unleashed by the Russian Federation "indicates a high level of attention to our state."
