Ukraine's Finance Minister holds number of meetings within World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings in Washington

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko held a number of meetings in Washington as part of the first day of the World Bank-International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings, which will take place on April 15-20, the minister reported on his Facebook page.

“We started with important meetings with key partners - representatives of the government and the White House of the United States: Jay Shambaugh, Under Secretary of the U.S. department of the Treasury; Daleep Singh, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs; Jose Fernandez, US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth; Scott Nathan, CEO of the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC)," the minister said.

Marchenko emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the amount of budget assistance from the United States has reached about $23 billion.

“Military and humanitarian support, sanctions - all this has become an important element of Ukraine’s effective fight against the aggressor. We are grateful for such a powerful show of solidarity. But Ukrainians need support in the future, and here we rely on the leadership of the United States, especially now that the enemy did not retreat, only intensifying its terror,” the minister emphasized.

Marchenko expects that Congress representatives will make an appropriate decision as soon as possible - they will approve an aid package to Ukraine for 2024. The topic of confiscation of Russian assets was also discussed separately.

“We continue our work at the Spring Meetings. There are dozens of high-level meetings and speeches at events ahead in order to mobilize support for Ukraine,” the Minister of Finance concluded.
