Ukraine, Moldova, Romania agree to optimize railway freight transportation
The railway ministries of Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova have developed a number of measures to improve freight transportation along the Reni-Giurgiulesti-Galati direction and return, Moldova's Calea Ferata din Moldova federal operator posted on social media.
A trilateral meeting of the railway operators took place in Chisinau on November 8-9, during which the parties agreed on non-stop travel through the Reni station; coordination of transportation volumes five days before implementation; transfer of complete combined trains of 50-60 railway cars from Moldova to Romania; trilateral exchange of information on the movement of railway cars; and daily processing capacity of the receiving terminals in Galati.
"Implementing these actions will provide a number of advantages, particularly by increasing capacity of the Giurgiulesti-Galati checkpoint by three times; reducing the travel time of railway cars between Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania by two to three days; and reducing transport costs," the Moldovan operator concluded.
