Inflation in Ukraine in annual terms down to 7.1% after 0.5% in Sept - statistics

Consumer prices in Ukraine in September 2023 increased by 0.5% after declining by 1.4% in August and 0.6% in July, the State Statistics Service reported on Monday.

At the same time, in September 2022, inflation was recorded at 1.9%, so in annual terms at the end of September 2023 it decreased to 7.1% from 8.6% at the end of August and 11.3% in July.

In September, the State Statistics Service recorded underlying inflation at 0.9% after two months of remaining at zero.

Taking into account the fact that in September 2022 underlying inflation was 2.4%, in annual terms at the end of September 2023 it also decreased to 8.4% from 10%in August and 12.3% in July.

Since the beginning of this year, inflation in the country has amounted to 3%, underlying inflation - 4.1%, the service clarified.

As reported, at the end of July, the National Bank of Ukraine again improved its inflation forecast for this year from 14.8% to 10.6%, but last week announced plans to further revise it downwards.

In 2022, inflation rose to 26.6% from 10% in 2021, underlying inflation to 22.6% from 7.9%.
