Poland checks trucks on border with Belarus to exclude transportation of dual-use goods to Russia
Polish services have increased the checks of freight vehicles for entry into Belarus in accordance with the decisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, the Polish Press Agency reports on Monday.
"Every truck is checked in every possible way, not even for military materials, but for the so-called dual use goods which could be used for military purposes. This is an instruction from both the Minister of Finance and the Minister of the Interior," Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration of Poland Maciej Wasik told the agency.
He acknowledged that as a result of a thorough inspection of transport, "waiting in line at the border can reach 80 hours."
He also said that "it would be best for the European Union to introduce an economic blockade of Russia" so that "as long as we close the Polish-Belarusian border through which transport moves to Russia, goods do not sail from Rostock or Hamburg to St. Petersburg."
