Ukravtodor ready to buy 64 KrAZ trucks in 2011

The State Road Service of Ukraine, also known as Ukravtodor, is ready to buy 64 KrAZ trucks – mainly combined road trucks on the basis of KrAZ-65055 dump truck with snow removing and salt scattering equipment - for supply to Ukravtodor's regional subdivisions.

The press service of AvtoKrAZ Holding (Kremenchuk, Poltava region) reported on Thursday that Serhiy Stelniakovych, Ukravtodor's board chairman, had confirmed the service's readiness to buy trucks during his visit to the plant at the end of January.

He said that a truck with salt scattering equipment made by the Packo firm under an order from Ukravtodor is in great demand die to ice on roads and heavy snowfalls, so the service is waiting for a consignment of the trucks ordered by Ukravtodor.

"We bought many specialtized KrAZ trucks in previous years. KrAZ suits us, especially for the processing of roads using so-called "salt technologies" that provide for traffic safety with ice on roads and snowfalls," the press service said, citing Stelniakovych.

The press service said that Ukravtodor bought over 250 KrAZ trucks in previous years.

Stelniakovych said that around 200 trucks are needed to transfer to "salt technologies" in full, and in the future the service would need 50-70 trucks per month to replace obsolete trucks.

He said that the present need for new, efficient trucks amounts to thousands of units.

"We need snow removing trucks, trucks for road pothole repair, bitumen trucks and road oilers. Now 70% of our trucks are older than ten years. We plan to buy Ukrainian-made trucks," he said.

AvtoKrAZ makes 28 basic vehicle models, and more than 260 modifications and trim levels of civilian and military vehicles. The company's trucks are in use in more than 60 countries.

AvtoKrAZ is part of Finance&Credit Group, which is affiliated with Ukrainian businessman Kostiantyn Zhevaho.
