Poroshenko: certain agreement with IMF on introduction of exit capital tax in Ukraine achieved

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has stressed he would take a consistent position on the introduction of an exit capital tax in Ukraine and declared a certain agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on this issue has been achieved.

Speaking about an exit capital tax at a meeting with Ukrainian and international business associations in Kyiv, the head of state noted this issue was one of the key topics during the recent negotiations with the IMF.

"More time than on discussing an exit capital tax with the IMF was spent only on government debates on tariffs," he said.

"From the total rejection of this reform, from the categorical "no," fortunately, the IMF has moved on to its specific perception," Poroshenko noted, adding that "the key issues are fiscal risks, compensators."

The president spoke for the earliest possible development of an acceptable model of this reform for all the parties, including the government, Ukrainian politicians, international partners, and business.

"For my part, I am not going to abandon the idea of an exit capital tax and I hope it will be realized at the first opportunity," he said.

"If you want to withdraw money [outside Ukraine] for use, please pay. If you want to invest in development [of the economy and business], the state facilitates," Poroshenko said.
