NBU governor on Tuesday departs to take part in IMF meeting in Indonesia

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yakiv Smolii on Tuesday departed as a member of the official delegation of the country to the annual autumn meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank group held this year in Bali Island (Indonesia), the central bank has reported on its Facebook page.

The Finance Ministry of Ukraine reported on its official website that the delegation headed by acting Finance Minister of Ukraine Oksana Markarova also includes Government Commissioner on Debt Issues Yuriy Butsa, acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun, Ukraine's Deputy Executive Director in the World Bank Roman Kachur and Ukraine's Alternate Executive Director in the IMF Vladyslav Rashkovan.

According to the NBU, the Ukrainian delegation, in addition to the traditional participation in the plenary meeting of the annual meeting and the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the IMF, will participate in the meeting of the IMF regional group and the World Bank group, which includes Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the delegation members will also meet with the leadership of the IMF, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In particular, during the working visit, Finance Minister Oksana Markarova will meet with World Bank Executive Director Kristalina Georgieva, Vice President for the Europe and Central Asia region of the World Bank Cyril Muller and First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF David Lipton.

"We will talk about the introduction of innovations at the level of the state, about the new degree of openness of the state through open data, about the reform of health care, education and public service, which main task is to make the unlimited potential of our people fully revealed," the press service of the Finance Ministry reported, citing Markarova.

The governor of the National Bank also plans to hold a series of meetings with representatives of other central banks to discuss cooperation issues, including Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Vitas Vasiliauskas, Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Daniyar Akishev, Governor of the Central Bank of Sweden Stefan Ingves, Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China Chen Yulu and Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Austria Andreas Ittner.

Smolii also intends to meet with representatives of the Royal Mint of Great Britain, representatives of the largest investment companies and banks in the world.

The NBU reminded that Smolii holds the position of Ukraine's manager in the IMF.

The autumn meeting of the IMF will last until October 14, the Finance Ministry said.
