Cabinet extends PSO for gas sales to households, heat supply companies until Oct 18
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the public service obligations (PSO) for the sale of natural gas for the needs of households and municipal heat supply companies at a reduced price until October 18.
"We have extended the PSO until October 18," Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman's press secretary, Vasyl Riabchuk, told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.
According to him, the respective decision was made at a government meeting on Friday.
As reported, Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 187 of March 22, 2017 stipulated that the public service obligations for the sale of gas to the public and heat supply companies would be in effect until April 1, 2018, but later the government extended them until late May and then until the end of July, August and September .
Ukraine as part of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund pledged to abandon the PSO and move to market prices, but in the summer and autumn of 2017 it refused to meet the obligation.
At present, the issue of gas prices for households is the key to the resumption of financing from the IMF.
