Ukrnafta to use fracking to produce extra 6,500 tonnes of oil in 2018

Ukrnafta expects to extract an additional 6,500 tonnes of oil in 2018 using hydraulic fracturing of formation, the company reported.

Since the beginning of the year Ukrnafta has conducted 11 fracking operations: six at wells of the Ukrnafta (East) business unit and five at the Ukrnafta (West) business unit. A minimum of 18 fracking operations are planned in all this year. Additional production from these operations is expected to be 6,500 tonnes of oil, it said.

At the end of August, Ukrnafta started fracking Ukrnafta (East) wells. It concluded two operations on well N43 at the Prylutske field and well N86 at Bohdanivske. In September, fracking was done on well N121 at the Velykobubnivske field, wells N507 and N491 at Buhruvativske and well N26 at Koziyivske.

"Ukrnafta carries out preparation jobs and fracking operations with the help of its own specialists," it said.

Ukrnafta previously forecast that oil and gas condensate production would increase 5% to 1.45 million tonnes in 2018, compared with the initial target of 1.38 million tonnes. Gas production will increase 10% to 1.07 billion cubic meters.
