Talks between Ukraine and IMF on further cooperation continuing

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Ukrainian authorities are still negotiating further cooperation, Director of the IMF Communications Department Gerry Rice has said.

The IMF mission has visited Kyiv and discussed with the Ukrainian authorities our further support for macroeconomic stability, reforms, economic growth and a possible financial assistance from the fund. I do not have information on the negotiations that are still going on, he said at a traditional briefing in Washington.

As reported, Ukraine and the EU on September 14 signed a memorandum of understanding and a loan agreement for the provision of MFA IV for EUR 1 billion, which involves the allocation of two tranches of EUR 500 million. The provision of these funds involves a number of conditions.

To receive the first tranche of MFA, Ukraine, in particular, should update the electronic declaration verification module to ensure their logical and arithmetical control and establish automatic data exchange between the verification module and the relevant state registers.
