Merkel uses binoculars to look at Russian military base in S. Ossetia from Georgia

German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and members of the EU Monitoring Mission visited the Georgian village of Odzisi on the border with South Ossetia on Friday.

According to Georgian media outlets, Merkel used binoculars to look at the Russian military base situated several hundred meters from Odzisi.

Merkel told students at Tbilisi State University earlier that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are "occupied" territories and that this is a great "injustice."
