Russia, Ukraine acknowledge need for new, EU compliant gas transit contract – Sefcovic
Russia and Ukraine acknowledge the need for a new type of gas transit contract, Vice-President of the European Commission for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic told reporters following trilateral talks between the European Commission, Russia and Ukraine on transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe.
The contracts must be compliant with EU law, Sefcovic said.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists: "We discussed these changes existing in European law. European law is being implemented in Ukrainian law. This also leaves its stamp on future relations beginning in 2020."
