Production of beverages may be suspended because halt to Dniproazot's work

The European Business Association (EBA) is concerned about a halt to chemical giant Dniproazot's work, which could lead to the suspension of production of beverages by several large plants.

"The business community is concerned about the situation with Dniproazot. Recently, companies that use liquid chlorine and hydrochloric acid to clean drinking water have turned to the European Business Association. They are concerned that the production of liquid chlorine and hydrochloric acid at JSC Dniproazot has ceased. According to their information, this is a critical situation, both for their business, for the population and the country's budget, since Dniproazot is a unique producer of this product," the association said.

According to their information, the production of beverages at several large plants will be suspended in a few days, because storing acid is not allowed under safety rules, and they have run out of this substance.

"Secondly, households may have difficulties with the availability of drinking water, since water cannot be supplied without chlorination. Thirdly, companies do not produce products, respectively, one day of idle time means huge losses for a company itself, the country's budget and is negative a signal for international investors," the EBA indicated.

In this regard, the association hopes that the parties will find a solution to the current situation in the short term to prevent the restriction of water supply, as well as to restore the production of a number of companies operating in Ukraine.

As reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman assured during the government's Q&A session in parliament on Friday, July 13, that Ukraine would be provided with liquid chlorine for the disinfection of drinking water, despite the halt of Dniproazot.
